We worked directly with The Melt, a San Francisco-based fast-casual eatery, to support their growing marketing operations by providing design support for a robust technology platform including website and mobile apps with online ordering, kiosks, in-store/point-of-sale visuals and other related online and real-world promotional materials.
We started working with the website, expanding and updating the menu as well as developing several new pages to match their service and content offerings. We retouched and adjusted product images, created new menu layouts, updated designs for just about every informational and account page that is in their system as well as designing most app and kiosk pages also.
The Melt offers online ordering as well as a QR code scanner in-store that is synchronized with a display board and an online user account as well. The website offers general information, an interactive menu with online ordering, promotional information, a geolocating store finder, nutritional information and much more.
We created user flows, icon sets, information diagrams and wireframe walkthroughs for The Melt. We also came up with several updated branding and advertising concepts, animations, videos, ad banners, gift cards, print promotions, online promotions, email campaigns and integrated landing pages, user interface and user experience analyses and overall design support for many of their promotional materials. It was quite exciting to interface with several project managers across a wide variety of media and design applications, especially providing support for a lengthy and ongoing engagement.
For a period of 3-4 years, we offered highly integrated design and creative support for the website as well as offline, in-store or other advertisements or graphics. One 30 second video ad that we created for The Melt was displayed during an event at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles. Another visual we created for an SF Giants related promotion was displayed on the Jumbotron during a game at the SF Giants stadium (AT&T Park).
Here is a small sampling of the work we did together which focused heavily on The Melt's technical systems and user interface design. We worked on the website for desktop and mobile (different for each) including online ordering and account systems, loyalty programs and more.
In addition, we also helped wrap the mobile site content in an app skin as well, creating custom icons and other related navigation, ordering and other features specifically for cross-platform web application usage.
We worked on The Melt's mobile systems including proprietary mobile formatted web site menu and online ordering system complete with account management and other membership features including loyalty programs as well. Our work extended across mobile phone and tablets and included another specific instance of their mobile app which also required navigation iconography and a self-contained architecture. We did kiosk and other in-store features as well.
We designed online and offline menus including catering menus (and online catering systems as well). Our work extended to in-store murals with the company's manifesto reformatted to fit various locations and their walls.
We also did lots of work with email campaigns (ok that's still "online" technically) which had extensions into real world events including the San Francisco Giants and several related promotions with them. As shown above we did video ads as well, some of which were shown in the Nokia Center and also animated ads for a shopping mall (Fig+7th) in Los Angeles where they had a store located.
