Objective

PERSONE was approached by Betsoft Gaming in 2018 to start working on web site designs for one of their new games called Max Quest. In 2019, we continued our in-depth work with Betsoft, continuing to further explore the user interface design of Max Quest, including the addition of two new parallel worlds, encompassing a 3-world, RNG based, first-person shooter, action/adventure game series.

In addition to working on the Max Quest game UI and web site, we were also asked to redesign one of the company's casino monitoring and reporting tools called Casino Manager. We also worked on an intranet redesign and a feature expansion for Max Quest adding a 360° and POV game option as well.

Approach

For the Max Quest work, we started with a general overhaul of the first world's user interface. The previous look was very detailed with a lot of world-specific design built into the various components of the design, such as the player panels, the menu bars, and the various info screens as well. We standardized the iconography and buttons, info panels and other elements between the worlds, so that future game expansions could use the same overall user interface between worlds, with relatively minimal customization. Once this universal UI was developed, we also focused on the specific application of each game world treatment for all of the related and supporting marketing materials including web site updates and banner designs.

In addition, our work on the Casino Manager had us approach an old but functional admin web app and transform it into a modern tool that would be reflective of today's expectations in terms of online product management. We developed a user interface and sets of icons and buttons that could be used throughout, as well as global and specific styles that would apply to pages, sections, customized reports, dashboards and other tools featured by the web app.

Summary

We transformed several of Betsoft's out-dated systems into modern tools, that maintained all previous functionality, while adding a level of expansion and sophistication to all of the different products we helped with.

Many of the systems were lacking in design or full execution and we enjoyed contributing our strategic vision and design process towards advancing these projects.

Betsoft - Website

We provided Betsoft with a series of design updates for their existing website as well as several more divergent designs that were used to envision and explore related alternatives to their current look, while still representing their core game and service offerings.

Max Quest - Wrath of Ra

This is the first of the Max Quest worlds to be developed. We got involved with the project when there was already an elaborate user interface designed for this world. One of our first priorities was to envision and create a new, more universal user interface for the game that could be used across multiple worlds. This would decouple the artwork from the interfaces from the actual worlds themselves. Once we established the user interface and various parameters that might be branded or might otherwise stay consistent between worlds, we then implemented the same general user interface across the three worlds which were developed to date.

Max Quest - Dead Man's Cove

Max Quest - 360° & POV UI

This is an emerging dimension of the Max Quest game, whereby there will be an introduction of both a first person view and an option to see it from a 360° perspective. Currently this project is in development.

Casino Manager

This is an internal admin web app used for monitoring performance for games, casinos, players, storing and accessing user lists and information and generally applying monitoring or reporting tools for all of Betsoft's products and operators.

We redesigned and managed production QA for this product which was designed to operate in an Angular environment. We worked with a team in Europe for the production and coordinated all design efforts including numerous custom reports and other various user interfaces and layouts for the project.
