Working with New York City's Interactive8, PERSONE was responsible for the design and production development of a themed 'Motorsports Channel' for the then-M&M's web site as well as contributing customized seasonal graphics for their network-themed site.
The Motorsports section, dedicated to the M&M's NASCAR efforts, was designed with automotive parts and elements in the user-interface to bring the user into the cockpit with the team's driver. The various images and pages all used race themes, from a racing stripe and checkered flag footer to dashboard like consoles and animated dials for the car-related images.
We createed many customized graphics to support the seasonal and team related themes and also used the car and the brand's iconic characters, Red and Yellow, as well as Blue, Green and even Crispy throughout the site. The characters and the brand are very playful and distinctive, which we wanted to carry through in the functionality and interactivity.
In addition to information about the M&M's brand and team efforts, the mini-site also incorporated information about the car, the driver, race and team photographs, individual race news and reports, as well as streaming audio interviews from the driver and team's crew.
In designing and producing all the sections of the motorsports related mini-site, PERSONE maintained all related content and also contributed and created various customized consoles for the homepage and other sections of the site. In doing so, we established a unique, engaging and entertaining user-experience, directly related to the M&M's brand. In addition, by combining existing brand and character-related imagery to create customized page elements, we represented this NASCAR related section with full authenticity, translating the strong offline brand into an online space and encouraging a high degree of fun interactivity with the content.
