Process Metrix, a high-tech laser engineering and process control instrumentation development company based in Pleasanton, CA, contacted PERSONE to update and modernize their web site and their company's online branding.
Initially, We were provided with existing photography, marketing and research documentation, videos, screen captures and presentations about their products and the scientific theories that enable their precision laser technology.
Our explorations into their products and the many industries supported and affected by Process Metrix's research and tools opened our eyes to the energy and power that they were dealing with as far as materials and the scientific understanding needed to really penetrate and model the materials involved...whether hot molten steel and high-temperature refractory ceramics or the fine soot and particles emitted in automotive and various industrial applications.
We wanted to represent all of these ideas in addition to providing a more unique experience on the homepage of the site. The first idea began as an interactive application that would have interacted with pre-set objects, showing the precision measurement capabilities of the company's products via an interactive software-like experience. Eventually, we built that idea around the specific product offerings and created a function-specific overview and subnavigation to each of their products including a preview description for each. The organization of the information architecture enabled us precise control and intuitive user-experience throughout the entire site browsing experience.
We launched the new site, in February 2010, updating the product offerings on their site, streamlining and standardizing the navigation, and organizing the downloadable product information. Mostly we redefined their brand to reflect the truly high-caliber, incredibly modern, important, high-powered and dynamic company that it is. By updating the information architecture, the design, and the technologies that hold everything together, we made the site much more reflective of the intelligent design and engineering prowess of this very experienced team.
